Sovetskie Arkhivy
(Soviet Archives), a journal of the Main Archival Administration under the Council of Ministers of the USSR, published with the participation of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism of the Central Committee of the CPSU and of the Institute of the History of the USSR of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The journal has been published in Moscow once every two months since 1966. It replaced Informatsionnyi biulleteri GAU MVD SSSR (Bulletin of the Main Archival Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR; 1956–58) and Voprosy arkhivovedeniia (Problems of Archive Studies; 1959–65).
Sovetskie arkhivy publishes selections of archival documents on the history of the USSR and the CPSU, articles on the organization of archival services in the USSR and abroad, on the organization of government clerical work, and on documentation and archival studies. It also deals with the work of archives. Circulation, more than 16,000 (1976).
