(Soviet Public Health), a monthly journal of the Ministry of Public Health of the USSR. Sovetskoe zdravookhranenie has been published in Moscow since 1942. (In 1940 and 1941 it was published under the name Bol’nichnoe delo [Hospital Affairs].)
Sovetskoe zdravookhranenie publishes articles dealing with social medicine and public health, the administration, economics, and planning of public health, the use of research both to improve diagnostic and therapeutic treatment and to simplify the work of medical personnel, medical education, and the history of medicine and public health. The journal also publishes critiques and bibliographies and regularly reports on the work of congresses and conferences on public health. It prints an annual index of articles and, since 1962, an alphabetical list of authors. Circulation, approximately 21,000 (1976).
