resonant ultrasound spectroscopy
resonant ultrasound spectroscopy[¦rez·ən·ənt ‚əl·trə ‚sau̇nd spek′träs·kə·pē] (acoustics) An experimental technique for obtaining a complete set of elastic constants of a material in which a sample of the material of well-defined shape, usually a sphere or a rectangular parallelepiped, is held between two transducers, one of which excites the sample while the other measures its response, and the spectrum of free mechanical resonances of the sample is measured.
