Stokhod

 

(also Stokhud), a river in Volyn’ Oblast, Ukrainian SSR; a right tributary of the Pripiat’ River of the Dnieper River basin. The Stokhod measures 188 km long and drains an area of 3,150 sq km. It originates in the Volyn’ Hills and flows through the Poles’e Lowland. It is fed predominantly by snow. High water lasts from March to May. The mean flow rate 15 km from the mouth is 13.5 cu m per sec. The river freezes in late November or early December, and the ice breaks up in late March or early April.
