Punta Cardón

 

a city in northwestern Venezuela, on the southwestern shore of the Paraguanà Peninsula. Population, 7,500 (1961). Punta Cardón is a port used for shipment of oil and petroleum products; the freight turnover totaled approximately 18.4 million tons in 1971. The oil refinery in Punta Cardón, Venezuela’s largest, uses oil piped from fields in the Lake Maracaibo region.
