Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

(pronounced “rick-rah”) A federal law that establishes a system for managing hazardous wastes in an environmentally sound manner from the point of origin to the point of final disposal, called cradle-to-the-grave management. It also promotes resource recovery and waste minimization.The Act gives citizens the right to file suit against violators to enforce its provisions, and the right to file suit against the Environmental Protection Agency administrator to require enforcement of the rules.
