Vishera

a river in Perm’ Oblast, RSFSR. A left tributary of the Kama, it empties into the Vishera Cove of the Kama Reservoir. The Vishera is 415 km long and has a basin area of 31,200 sq km. It originates on the western slope of the Northern Urals and flows primarily through the foothills of the Urals. For the most part, it has the character of a rapid mountain river, flowing through a narrow valley. Karst phenomena are widespread in its basin. Its principal tributaries are the laz’va (left) and the Kolva (right). The Vishera is fed by mixed sources but predominantly by snow. It freezes at the end of October or the beginning of November and the ice breaks up at the end of April. The river is used for floating timber, and there is regular passenger traffic up to the city of Krasnovishersk. There are diamond deposits in the Vishera Basin.

The river is navigable from the point where the Nivshera River empties into it.
