Valiev, Kamil’ Akhmetovich

 

Born Jan. 15, 1931, in the village of Verkhnii Shander, Mamadysh Raion, Tatar ASSR. Soviet specialist in semiconductor microelectronics. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1972). Member of the CPSU since 1954.

Valiev graduated from Kazan University in 1954. From 1957 to 1964 he taught at the Kazan Pedagogical Institute. He was head of a department at a scientific research institute in 1964 and 1965 and the director of the institute from 1965 to 1977; he became a professor in 1966. In 1977 he was named the head of a department at the Institute of Space Research of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Valiev’s principal works deal with electron paramagnetic resonance, nuclear magnetic resonance, and the production technology of integrated circuits.

Valiev has received the Lenin Prize and has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor; in 1976 he received the State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR.
