The Pur meanders northward over the Western Siberian Plain; the lower course branches into several arms. The river empties into Taz Bay of the Kara Sea. The Pur is fed by snow and rain. The mean flow rate is 1,040 cu m per sec, and the maximum flow rate reaches 10,000 cu m per sec. The Pur freezes in November, and the ice breaks up in May. The river is navigable.
