Location:1 mile north of Miles City on MT 59, 2 miles east on Kinsey Road, then 2 miles south on county road.
Facilities:Picnic area, bike trail, hiking trail (2.4 miles), horseback riding trail.
Activities:Fishing, hiking, bicycling, wildlife viewing, boating (non-motorized only), agate collecting.
Special Features:This typical cottonwood-covered island on the Yellowstone Riverprovides a natural haven for waterfowl, bald eagles, and white-tailedand mule deer, making it an excellent site for wildlife viewing. It'salso a good place to hunt for moss agates. During low water, a smallchannel can be accessed by foot to get to the island by foot, andaccess is always available by floating the river. Captain Clark and hismen, along with Sacagawea and baby Pomp, are believed to have camped onthe island on their return trip east to Saint Louis in 1806.
