Piruzian, Lev Aramovich

 

Born July 16, 1937, in the village of Manes (present-day Alaverdi), Armenian SSR. Soviet medical biophysicist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1974). Member of the CPSU since 1963.

Piruzian graduated from the Yerevan Medical Institute in 1961. He has worked at the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR since 1964. He has also served as director of the Scientific Research Institute for Biological Testing of Chemical Compounds since 1971. His main works have dealt with the effect of physical and chemical environmental changes on various forms of life. Piruzian formulated new principles for selecting biologically active compounds and applied the principles to drug research.

Piruzian has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
