Purchasing Cooperative

Purchasing Cooperative

a kind of cooperative that unites peasants, artisans, craftsmen, fishermen, and other small-scale producers to supply them with the means of production or the consumer goods they need. In the early stages of the development of the cooperative movement, the purchasing cooperative was, along with the wholesaling cooperative and the credit union, one of the most widespread forms of cooperative. Under contemporary conditions it is most often encountered in agriculture.
