Siberian Uvaly

an upland within the Western Siberian Lowland, in the Khanty-Mansi National Okrug of Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR. The upland stretches for 900 km in an east-west direction, from the Ob’ River almost to the Enisei, forming a watershed between the right tributaries of the Ob’ and the headwaters of rivers in the Kazym, Nadym, Pur, and Taz river basins. The maximum elevation is 285 m.

The upland has a rugged terrain of morainic hills in the west (from the Ob’ to the headwaters of the Liamin) and in the east (between the upper reaches of the Pur, Taz, and Elogui).

Composed of fluvioglacial deposits, the central and lowest part of the Siberian Uvaly is flat and swampy. Forests of fir, larch, and pine predominate in the west and east, and sparse larch woodlands and swamps are found in the central area.
