scan converter[′skan kən‚vərd·ər] (electronics) Equipment that converts radar data images at a 3 to 10 kilohertz sampling rate that can be sent over telephone line or narrow bandwidth radio circuits and converted into a slow-scan image, through a similar converter, at the receiving end.
