Purievich, Konstantin Adrianovich

 

Born May 16(28), 1866, in Zhitomir; died Aug. 18(31), 1916, in the village of Izabelovka, Podol’sk Province. Russian plant physiologist.

Purievich graduated from the University of Kiev in 1890; he became a professor there in 1900. Using precise physical methods, he conducted research on the use of storage substances in seed germination, the respiratory coefficient for saprophytic fungi, and the coefficient of solar energy use in photosynthesis.
