scapulothoracic joint

scap·u·lo·tho·rac·ic joint

(skap'yū-lō-thōr-as'ik joynt) The articulation between the scapula and the dorsal thorax; it is not a true anatomic joint because it lacks a synovial capsule and there are muscles between the anterior surface of the scapula and the thorax.
