scar cancer scar car·ci·no·macarcinoma of the lung, usually adenocarcinoma, arising from a peripheral lung scar or associated with interstitial fibrosis in a honeycomb lung. Synonym(s): scar cancerscar cancer A cancer often located in the pulmonary apices and associated with pre-existing scars, wounds or inflammation–eg, healed TB, infarcts, abscess cavities, bronchiectasis, and metallic foreign bodies–eg, bullets; 80% of SCs are adenoCAs, 15% are SCCs, the rest are of other histopathologic types.
