Pittermann, Bruno

 

Born Sept. 3, 1905, in Vienna. Austrian politician; a leader of the Socialist Party of Austria and the Socialist International.

Educated as a lawyer, Pittermann practiced law and taught for many years. Since 1945 he has been a deputy to the National Assembly. From 1957 to 1966 he served as vice-chancellor of Austria, and from 1957 to 1967 as chairman of the Socialist Party of Austria. Pittermann has been chairman of the Socialist International since 1964.
