Siculi

Siculi

 

one of the oldest tribes of central and southern Italy and, since the 13th century B.C., of the island of Sicily; bearers of the Apennine culture. The language of the Siculi was similar to Latin. By the fourth century B.C., the Siculi had been subjugated by the Greeks and gradually hellenized.
