Location:In the central Berkshires in western Massachusetts, off Route 20.
Facilities:31 campsites (13 rustic sites atop Berry Mountain, 12 sites with flushtoilets at the mountain's base, and 6 open-field sites), restrooms(é), picnic area (é), group day-use area, trails (including nature and birding trails; some @di), scenic vista (é).
Activities:Camping, boating (non-motorized), fishing, swimming, hiking, mountainbiking, horseback riding, off-road vehicle riding (including ATVs), hunting (withrestrictions), cross-country skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Forest follows the crest of the Taconic Mountain Range separatingMassachusetts and New York. It includes 65 acres of wild azalea fieldsthat are a profusion ofpink blossoms in June, and Berry Pond, which, at 2,150 feet, is one ofthe highestnatural bodies of water in Massachusetts. The forest also includesBalance Rock, a 165-ton limestone rock with a diameter of only threefeet at the point of balance.
