Aleksenko, Vladimir Avramovich

 

Born Jan. 27, 1923, in the village of Kievskaia, Krasnodar Krai. Lieutenant general of the air force, military flier first class, twice Hero of the Soviet Union (Apr. 19 and June 29, 1945). Member of the CPSU since 1943. Entered the Soviet Army in 1941; graduate of military pilot school in 1942.

During the Great Patriotic War, Aleksenko worked his way up from flier to assistant commander of the 15th Guard Assault Air Regiment (on the Leningrad and Third Byelorussian fronts). He completed 292 operational flights. After the war, he graduated from the Air Force Academy and the Military Academy of the General Staff. Presently (1969) he holds a responsible position in the Soviet Army. He has been awarded the Order of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, Orders of the Patriotic War First Class, of the Patriotic War Second Class, and of Alexander Nevsky, and also two Orders of the Red Star and medals.
