The damaging eye condition that follows retention of an iron-containing intraocular foreign body. Iron in the eye leads to a spectrum of damage affecting the iris, lens, retina and optic nerve. Outlook for vision may be poor unless the foreign body is removed.

siderosis bulbi 

Deposit of iron produced by an iron foreign body in the ocular tissues. It is characterized by a reddish-brown discoloration of the surrounding tissue. See heterochromia; iron line.
