Special Features:Park preserves and protects the site of the first discoveryof gold in California, in 1842. Designated as a State HistoricLandmark, the park is situated in the transition zone between the SanGabrial Mountains and the Mojave Desert and contains sandstoneformations, streams, and woodlands. Park is operated by Los AngelesCounty and includes a nature center with gardens (including one of thelargest displays of camellias in the world), a lake, and pools andwaterfalls.
