Putiata

Putiata

Died no earlier than 1113. Voevoda (military commander) and Kievan tysiatskii (chiliarch) of Grand Prince Svia-topolk II Iziaslavich.

Putiata took part in the congress of princes in Vitichev. In 1097 he commanded Sviatopolk’s host, which was dispatched against Prince David Igorevich. In 1104, Putiata led the campaign against Prince Gleb of Minsk. Putiata also fought in the successful campaign of 1106 against the Polovtsi. He was apparently a usurer, which earned him the enmity of the Kievans. His palace was plundered during the uprising in Kiev in 1113.
