stopping…then starting treatment

stopping…then starting treatment

A term used in the context of terminal patient care for a reversal of the decision by those close to the patient to stop life-prolonging treatment.
It often proves difficult to think about withdrawing a life-prolonging treatment once started, either because of the emotional distress that can accompany such a decision, or because those close to the patient are concerned about what might be seen as having played an active role in the patient's death.
