[′plān əv mə¦rēn ‚dē·nü′dā·shən] (geology) A plane or nearly plane surface worn down by the gradual encroachment of ocean waves upon the land; or a plane or nearly plane imaginary surface representing such a plain after uplift and partial subaerial erosion. Also known as plain of submarine denudation.
