Putnam Memorial State Park
Location:3 miles south of Bethel on Route 58.
Facilities:Youth group camping areas, museum, interpretive trail, pit toilets.
Activities:Pond fishing, ice skating, hiking, field sports, picnicking.
Special Features:Park is the site of the Continental Army's 1779 winter encampment underthe command of General Israel Putnam. The site includes remains of theencampment, reconstructed log buildings, and a museum.
