an English judge. Since 1970 appointed by the Lord Chancellor, the Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the organization of the business of the Chancery division and is ex officio a member of the COURT OF APPEAL.

VICE-CHANCELLOR. The title of a judicial officer who decides causes depending in the court of chancery; his opinions may be reversed, discharged or altered by the chancellor.
