释义 | Tuckerman, Frederick GoddardTuckerman, Frederick Goddard(1821–73) poet; born in Boston, Mass. He studied at Harvard (1841) and at the Law School there (1839–42); although admitted to the bar (1844), he practiced only briefly. A wealthy man, he retired to Greenfield, Mass., to study literature, botany, and astronomy (1847). Rediscovered as a poet in 1931, he is known for his sonnets and narrative poetry, notably "The Cricket," a study of the relationship of man and nature. |
