Established: 1997.
Location:Portions of Horry, Georgetown, and Maion County, South Carolina.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:Refuge includes portions of Great Pee Dee, Little Pee Dee and Waccamaw Rivers. It is the northernmost nesting area for swallow-tailed kites.
Habitats: 9,506 acres of black water forested wetlands to forested and emergent wetlands.
Access: Few refuge tracts are accessible by car; call refuge office for details.
Wild life: Waterfowl, wading birds, deer, squirrel, hogs.
