Waccasassa Bay Preserve State Park
Location:Accessible only by boat, from County Road 40 in Yankeetown, County Road 326 in Gulf Hammock, or Cedar Key.
Facilities:Primitive canoe campsite on the river.
Activities:Boating, canoeing, fishing, wildlife viewing (from canoes; no marked foot trails in park).
Special Features:Preserve is popular with anglers because it has both saltwater andfreshwater fishing. The park's extensive salt marshes and tidal creeksprovide habitats for saltwater fish, crabs, and shellfish. Severalendangered species, including West Indian manatees, bald eagles,American alligators, and Florida black bear live or feed within thepreserve.
