(jă-pŏn′ĭ-kəm)n. Infection with Schistosoma japonicum, characterized by dysenteric symptoms, painful enlargement of the liver and spleen, dropsy, urticaria, and progressive anemia. Also called Asiatic schistosomiasis, Katayama disease, Katayama syndrome, urticarial fever, Yangtze Valley fever.
