Vecchietti, Tullio

 

Born July 29, 1914, in Rome. Activist in the Italian labor movement, historian, journalist.

Vecchietti participated in the revival of the Italian Socialist Party (PSI) on the territory of fascist Italy in 1942 and in the underground antifascist struggle in Rome. He was elected several times to the leadership of the PSI and was a member of its left wing. From 1964 to 1971, Vecchietti was the political secretary and in 1971-72 the president of the Italian Socialist Party of Proletarian Unity. Since 1972 he has been a member of the leadership and the Central Bureau of the Italian Communist Party. He has been a deputy to the parliament since 1953.
