Visim

 

an urban-type settlement in Prigorodnyi Raion, Sverdlovsk Oblast, RSFSR. It is located on the Mezhevaia Utka River (a tributary of the Chusova River) 50 km south-west of Nizhnii Tagil. Population, 4,600 (1969). A metallurgical factory was built in Visim in the middle of the 18th century; it closed in 1907. The home and museum of D. N. Mamin-Sibiriak, who was born and raised through childhood in Visim, is located here.
