Schlösser’s treatment

An obsolete treatment for trigeminal neuralgia described by C Schlösser (1857–1925) consisting of local injection of alcohol.
Glycerol is the preferred injection agent in the working medical practice, administered as a percutaneous retroganglionic rhizotomy, with up to 59% of patients with trigeminal neuralgia being pain-free two years after a single injection .
