Togoev, Daniil Nikolaevich

 

Born Aug. 2 (14), 1891, in the village of Khristianovskoe (present-day city of Digora in the Severnaia Osetiia ASSR); died Nov. 30,1939. Participant in the struggle to establish Soviet power in Severnaia Osetiia (Northern Ossetia). Member of the CPSU (1917).

Togoev studied at the Petrovskoe Agricultural Academy in Moscow. In 1916 he was conscripted into the army. After the February Revolution of 1917 he spread revolutionary propaganda among the soldiers of the Ossetian Brigade on the Southwestern Front, where he was a member of the regimental committee. From 1918 to 1920 he was deputy military commissar of the Terek Soviet Republic, chairman of the revolutionary committee of the Vladikavkaz District and a member of the Cheka. From 1921 to 1922, Togoev served as deputy head of the district land department, commissar of food supply and chairman of the Digora district executive committee, and chairman of the revolutionary tribunal of the Gortsy ASSR. From 1922 to 1929 he was a member of the Supreme Court of the Far East and chairman of the Primor’e provincial court and the Far East Krai Court. From 1929 to 1934 he was deputy procurator and chairman of the Supreme Court of the Tadzhik SSR. In 1934 he became chairman of the oblast executive committee of the Severnaia Osetiia Autonomous Oblast.

Togoev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.
