Vladimir Golobutskii

Golobutskii, Vladimir Alekseevich

 

Born July 28 (Aug. 10). 1903, in the village of Velikii Bor, now in Surazh Raion, Briansk Oblast. Soviet historian; doctor of historical sciences (1948), professor (1949). Member of the CPSU since 1950.

Golobutskii graduated from the university of Rostov-on-Don in 1930. He is the author of many works on the socioeconomic and political history of the Ukraine of the 16th to 19th centuries and on problems of the disintegration of the feudal-serf system and the origins of capitalism. A number of his works are devoted to the war of liberation waged by the Ukrainian people from 1648 to 1654 and to the history of the Zaporozh’e and Black Sea cossacks. He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
