Plasticized Cement

Plasticized Cement

(or plasticized portland cement), a variety of cement distinguished by the ability to increase the plasticity and workability of mortar and concrete and to improve frost resistance to concretes. Plasticized cement is produced by adding plasticizing hydrophilic surface-active constituents (0.15–0.30 percent by weight) during the grinding of cement clinker. The most common additive is sulfite-cellulose liquor, which is the bottom product of the processing of sulfite liquor to nutrient yeast.
