Vladimir Ivanovich Vostrukhov

Born May 31 (June 12), 1895, at Novki station, in present-day Vladimir Oblast. Colonel general (1945). Member of the CPSU since 1944. Second lieutenant in World War I.

Vostrukhov joined the Soviet Army in January 1919. He fought in the Civil War. He graduated from Vystrel, the higher infantry school of the Soviet Army, in 1925 and from the M. V. Frunze Military Academy in 1933. In the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45, Vostrukhov was deputy commander of the army for logistics during August-October 1941, commander of the troops of the Twenty-second and Thirty-first armies from October 1941 to April 1942, and deputy commander of the troops for logistics of the Kalinin Front, of the Thirtieth Army, of the Steppe Military District, and of the Steppe, Second Ukrainian, and Transbaikal fronts. He was chief of the Military Academy of Logistics and Supplies during 1946-49 and chief of logistics of the Armed Forces from 1949 to 1953. In 1953 he retired for reasons of health.

Vostrukhov has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of Suvorov First Class, the Order of Kutuzov First Class, the Order of Bogdan Khmel’nitskii First Class, the Order of the Patriotic War First Class, and several foreign orders and medals.
