Ukaznaia Kniga
Ukaznaia Kniga
a record book of tsars’ decrees, of decisions, sentences, and resolutions of the Boyar Duma, or of other documents. In the 16th and 17th centuries the books were maintained in Russia’s central and local government institutions. They were introduced with the establishment of prikazy (administrative offices), and their contents varied according to the scope of the office. The earliest extant ukaznaia kniga is that of the Razboinyi Prikaz (Justice Office) for 1555 and 1556.
