Revocable Beneficiary

Revocable Beneficiary

The beneficiary of a life insurance policy that the policyholder may remove from the policy at his/her discretion. For example, suppose a policyholder names her husband as a revocable beneficiary. Should the policyholder be divorced, she may remove her (now ex-) husband from the policy and replace him with someone else, say a child or other relative. Most life insurance policies have revocable beneficiaries to give the policyholder a great deal of flexibility. A revocable beneficiary should not be confused with a revocable trust.
