Biisheva, Zainab Abdullovna

 

Born Jan. 2 (15), 1908, in the village of Tuimbetovo, now in Kugarchinskii Raion. Soviet Bashkir writer. Member of the CPSU since 1941.

Biisheva graduated from the Orenburg Bashkir Pedagogical Technicum. She is the author of the book The Boy Partisan (1942) and the novellas Kiunkhylyu (1949), Gul’iamal (1953), Let’s Be Friends (1954), A Strange Person (1960), and Where Are You, Guinisa? (1962). In the novels The Humbled Ones (1959) and The Awakening (1968) she describes the life of prerevolutionary Bashkir society and shows a Bashkir woman joining the Revolution. Biisheva has also written for children, for example, the plays At the New Year’s Party (1948) and Friendship (1950), as well as a collection of poetry entitled Living Letters of the Alphabet (1960). She has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and a medal.
