S0146000 (shwīt′sər, shvīt′-), Albert 1875-1965. Alsatian philosopher, physician, and musician who founded (1913) and spent much of his life at a missionary hospital in present-day Gabon. Schweitzer was a noted organist and wrote many theological works. He won the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize.
