Stranvaesia

 

a genus of evergreen trees or shrubs of the family Rosaceae. The entire or serrate leaves have subulate stipules. The flowers, which are white and pentamerous, are in corymbs. The fruits are orange or bright red pomes. There are ten to 14 species, distributed from the Himalayas to the Philippine Islands. Several species are raised as ornamentals. S. davidiana, a shrub with bright red fruits, and S. nussia, a low tree with orange fruits, are cultivated in the USSR in greenhouses and botanical gardens.
