symbiosisor mutualism

symbiosisor mutualism

a relationship between dissimilar organisms in which both partners benefit. Symbiosis occurs, for example, between the hermit crab Pagarus and the sea anemone Adamsia palliata which lives attached to the crab's shell; the anemone obtains food scraps from the crab and the crab is camouflaged by the anemone and also defended by its stinging cells (NEMATO CYSTS).
