Tokachi-Dake
Tokachi-Dake
an active volcano in Japan; situated in the Taisetsu-zan, in the central part of the island of Hokkaido. The mountain rises to an elevation of 2,077 m. In the upper part of the cone there are numerous craters. There have been about ten eruptions since 1857. During the eruption of 1926,17.5 million cu m of pumice and 3.5 million cu m of slag were discharged. The mountain is covered with snow most of the year. There are sulfur deposits. Tokachi-dake is part of the Taisetsu-zan National Park.
