Ushkani Islands

Ushkan’i Islands

 

a group of islands in the central part of Lake Baikal. It consists of Bol’shoi Ushkanii Island, which has an area of 9.4 sq km and an elevation of 216 m, and the three Malye Ushkan’i Islands. The islands are composed primarily of crystalline limestones. The shores are rocky. The Ushkan’i Islands are the tips of the underwater Ushkanii Ridge. The islands are covered with a larch forest.
