Ush-Urekchen
Ush-Urekchen
a mountain range in Magadan Oblast, RSFSR, between the Omolon and Oloi rivers (tributaries of the Kolyma River). The Ush-Urekchen measures 230 km in length and has elevations of 900–1,600 m in the east and a maximum elevation of 1,685 m. The range is composed of granite and gabbro, which break through deposits of the Devonian, Permian, Triassic, and Jurassic. In places there are extensive sheets of effusive rocks. The range has an average mountain relief and is plateaulike in places. There are thin forests on the slopes and along the bottoms of the valleys to an elevation of 500–600 m and mountain tundra at higher elevations.
