scion Botany a shoot or twig of a plant used to form a graft Scion a cutting or a corymb having a bud from a cultivated variety that is grafted to another plant (the stock). The growth that results from the joining of scion and stock is called a graft. In fruit growing, the cuttings are obtained from a special section of fruit trees at a nursery or in a commercial orchard.
