Tokrau
Tokrau
(in its upper course, Zhamankul’), a river in the Kazakh SSR. The Tokrau is 298 km long and drains an area of 21,100 sq km. It rises in the Kyzyltas Mountains of the Kazakh Melkosopochnik and terminates in the sands north of Lake Balkhash. The river is fed mainly by snow. The mean flow rate 134 km from the mouth is 1.56 cu m per sec. The Tokrau dries up in its lower course.
